Hippos in the Surf

This was sent to me by my brother, James, who was recently surfing in Africa and was surprised to see a Hippo pop up in the surfline. He quickly jumped on its' back and pulled into a few tandem barrels before calling it a session. You can consider this post 3 days early.

Nicaragua Combers

Fellow Fangtooth member, Quinn (also one of the original members), sent along an e-mail about his recent trip to Nicaragua with a photo and a link to a video of a nearby break that they unfortunately didn't get to shred, but are planning to hit-up on their next trip. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did.

Quinn's E-mail:

Nicaragua was sweet. Had the whole ocean to ourselves.
The place was stayed was this little hotel in a little village that barely had roads, but great waves. Here is some footage of a really close break we didn't ride, that is only boat accessible. We rode beach breaks the whole time.... Maybe next time..... Because of huge lakes inland, there are offshore winds about 300+ days a year. It was strong offshore the whole time we were there. fun.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkwaVtPXHPA

37 Degree Water & 25 Degree Air - Winter Surf in NY

Coutesy of Fangtooth Member, Blake Sinclair, now representing in NY:

I went down to the Rockaways a couple weeks ago to take some pics of my friend Lucass. He is from Nor Cal, so he surfs out here year round. I was actually jealous of him because the water was about 37, and the air was 25. I was freezing my a*^ off. Im coming home next week though, and im bringing back a fish. I'll have to wait for spring though, because i cant afford a 5/4 dry suit, hood booties and gloves. here is a link to some of the shots:
